Hutch Carpenter, Vice President of Product for Spigit, Discusses Emerging Opportunities In The Process Of Innovation Beyond Research And Development
Two factors are driving an interest in expanding the process of innovation beyond R&D, product and strategy inside companies. First, we're seeing a general move, inside organizations and out in the streets, toward broader participation in decisions. Second, studies are confirming the value of diverse inputs in the innovation process. This talk discusses ways to address these emerging opportunities.
Hutch Carpenter, Vice President of Product for Spigit, will speak at the weekly Global Product Management Talk on Twitter Monday, March 5, 2012 at the simultaneous times of 3:00 PM Pacific Time, 6:00 PM Eastern Time, which will be Tuesday, March 6 at 10:00 AM Sydney, Australian Time using the hashtag #ProdMgmtTalk
Hutch says, "Product management is the most interesting and dynamic work you'll find in companies, drawing on multiple disciplines and affected by many emerging market trends. Using Twitter to bring people together to cover the issues and trends is a great way to open up the discussion. I look forward to engaging with the Global Product Management Talk community."

Q1. What is the "customer job" (Clay Christensen sense) that needs to be filled by innovation management software?
Q2. Which employees are "right" for participating in the innovation process?
Q3. How do you find high potential ideas from a high volumes of them?
Q4. What are some models for engaging employees in a process that falls outside their "day jobs"?
Q5. Isn't this a popularity contest for ideas, and what company would operate that way?
Q6. What does it mean to "evaluate" an idea?
Q7. How to say 'no' to an idea, and not discourage future participation?
Q8. What are some best practices for running an employee innovation program?
Q9. What about expanding beyond employees, and bringing customers directly into the innovation process?
Q10. Where does a crowdsourced innovation management platform fit within the enterprise software ecosystem?
